Meet Katie

Me at 145lbs. My BMI is 24.9 (25 is overweight) Wayyy to close!

I’ve always been an athletic one. From competitive soccer, to running half marathons when I got to college, physical activity makes me happy and is a great stress reliever.  Beyond being competitive, I also love reading and talking (not at the same time). Building relationships is really important to me, and through those relationships I’ve found some amazing books to read! I enjoy lazy afternoons on the couch and a good belly-laugh.  I firmly believe that laughing is the best medicine and I’d rather be outside than inside.  I enjoy being with people rather than being alone, and I also love college football.

I am a college student on the southeastern side of the country and absolutely love it.  I am a junior, but planning to graduate a semester early, putting my graduation date at December 2011.

I am a firm believer in Jesus Christ. I believe He died on a cross and rose from the dead.  He is the light to any darkness, and I am reminded daily that my ways are not always the same as His. He must become greater; I must become less. John 3:30

*Note* I will never force my faith upon you, but it will be mentioned, so please don’t be offended!

THE PROBLEM

Food has become my god.  Not the God I love, but like a little side-idol.  It has consumed me.  I have gained 10lbs in the last month or so due to an eating disorder, commonly known as binge eating.  I have let food be my comforter and my all and all.  I am ready to take the next steps to fight the battle against this false idol in my life. I am ready to seek Him instead of depending on my own strength, hence “Searching Higher.”

I am seeking others who are willing to stand beside me in this fight against eating disorders. If you are like me, or just want to help me through, please comment on any post at any time!
